Editorial Review :
Folding Ramps Trifold Advantage Series Portable Wheelchair Ramps with its unique 3-fold design, offers the length required for wheelchairs and scooters to easily access steps, vehicles, and raised landings. The ramp is designed to be used and carried as a set, or if desired, can be quickly separated into two individual sections, making it even easier to use, carry, and store. By simply removing two hinge pins, the trifold Advantage Series folding ramp quickly separates into two lightweight halves, each with their own carrying handle. The durable, patent-pending hinge with interlocking brackets provides smoother operation and reduced pinch points. The portable ramp features high-quality skid-resistant tape with yellow safety strips and a self-adjusting bottom transition plate for easy conversion from ramp to ground. The folding ramp unfolds to a 29" wide platform. The wheelchair ramp is manufactured of welded aircraft-grade aluminum. The folding aluminum ramp features an 800 pound weight capacity and five-year limited warranty.

Question : Has anyone ever had a legally authorized handicapped vehicle towed because it was on private property
The vehicle was parked in a blue handicapped designated parking space with a current and valid handicapped card. They said it was only for residents of the building. Aren't they required to post a sign in front of the parking space to indicate this I would like to know if there are many people who have had any difficulty with handicapped parking that is on private property. Thank you for your responses. I am finding that there are many people who thought as I did, that a handicapped parking space is available to anyone who has a valid card. Private property is certainly an exception. If those who choose to place restrictions on handicapped parking were required to have, for example, a red handicapped insignia which would indicate a restriction, then the blue insignia would indicate that this place is available to anyone with a valid handicapped card. Either the parking is for the public or it is private. Color coding the card would eliminate the margin for error by eliminating any doubt. There was no building management to be found anywhere. In fact, after the vehicle was towed, it took over an hour to find anyone in management to even explain about the towing. The towing company apoligized but said someone had called to have the vehicle towed and they had an agreement with the building that obliged them to respond to the request.
Answer:
If it was an apartment building, then I could see it being towed. Handicapped spots are reserved for handicapped persons, but that doesn't mean there are no restrictions. Perhaps if the person was visiting in the building, the plate could have been registered with the management, but, if the person wasn't visiting or living there, there was no reason for the car to be parked there. Edit Aug 6/07 You still didn't say if you were visiting the building, because if you weren't, you had no need of the spot, right It would be like parking in the handicapped spot in front of the Safeway store and then walking across the street to JC Penny. And if you were visiting, then you had the need of the spot, and you should have registered with building management.
